Job portals and websites today have made it very easy to search for and apply for a job. But you might be wondering why after sending out so many applications, you get only a handful of responses. This is not because your application is weak, but because there may be some chance that your resume is not up to par with the company standards and expectations.

A resume reflects everything about you, right from your personal to professional details. Candidates are shortlisted for the interview round based on what they have put on their resume. Writing a resume or formatting one can be quite challenging since it has to be precise yet include all the relevant information.

Here are a few useful tips on writing a good medical resume:

Your contact information is the first thing that should be clear and stand out for a possible recruiter to reach out. Be sure to include all modes of communication, be it email, phone, social media profiles to reach out on, etc.

Education matters the most when it comes to writing a medical resume. Accurately listing out your medical degrees, certificates, and medical internships will gain attention to your resume. Your career objective should be very clear because, on this basis, job profiles can be narrowed down and discussed in case you get shortlisted.

Listing out your skills learned while pursuing your medical or nursing degree is very important. In the medical industry, updated knowledge and skill sets are of paramount importance. This is the first thing that will stand out after recruiters have gone through your education details.

Skills in a medical resume will include clinical skills as you will be working closely with patients and senior medical professionals. Customer service skills are equally important since this will indicate your ability to handle and deal with patients.

Extracurricular activities can always be added, along with your hobbies and interest. Medical resume will be more technical compared to regular resumes, but this doesn’t stop you from adding extracurriculars.

Most importantly, the length of the resume has to be spot on. Recruiters will always prefer a resume which is tailored to be precise, highlighting the relevant points and not exceeding more two pages.
